Kiyomizu - a lovely (world heritage) temple near the traditional ryokan (b&b) YHA that we stayed in for one night in Kyoto. This photo shows the people collecting therapeutic water to drink from the temple well...Patrick ran past this and other temples on his early morning runs delighting in passing through before the gates opened (and visitors were charged to enter the sites). He usually ran at 0600 to avoid the heat and in doing so encountered people going to pray at the temples (lighting candles and making a single clap of their hands after saying a few words or chanting).
Around the back of the temple we found these sculpted stones wearing aprons or bibs!!!
Very, very hot and pretty busy as you can see!
Fun feeding the pigeons at the largest temple in Kyoto (just outside the railway station).
